Have anyone noticed a turbine-like whine on startup?

Hi guys, I just noticed that there is a turbine-like whine that goes on for the first 1-2 minutes of the warm up when started the car cold. When the car is warm i don't hear that whine.

This whine sounds a little scary because it sounds like either the power steering or the ac are under a lot of stress. Sounds like something is spooling. And the whining is in proportion with the rpm. When i step on the gas pedal the whining just gets louder.

My oem warranty is about to expire and I am having the dealer to look at it. But I got a feeling nothing is gonna be found because the ac unit and power steering still works.

Have anyone else on the forum had the simular whine?

My relative, upon his first ride in my car, did comment that it sounded like a Jet engine when we took off out of the driveway (in a cool way of course). But the "Jet" noise he was referring to was actually the A/C adjusting the fan setting. When the car first starts, the fan always starts out at the lowest setting and then eventually works it's way back up to the highest setting necessary. This is what causes the noise in my case but not sure if that's what you're referring to.

Which AC fan is that? The one that blows the air into the cabin? or is there a fan in the engine bay somewhere?

My noise is from the engine bay area.

I'm referring to the one that blows air into the cabin. I assume the fan itself is located in the engine bay but am not sure if this would cause the kind of noise you're hearing from outside of the car.

i think i hear that same kind of noise when i first start the car...sounds more like a toy car to me, though. i guess its similar to a a jet-engine. like if you start it, stick it in neutral, then rev to around 2000rpm you hear it most. definitely comes from the engine and goes away when the car is warm, too. if something is found to be wrong and these noises aren't normal, make sure to let me know! my sister has the same engine as i do so i'm gonna play with her car tomorrow and see

The noise is from the emission control air pump that adds extra oxygen during cold start (rich) conditions. Completely normal.
