Brake rust, need suggestions

Hello guys,

My CLK55 brakes look crappy with the rust stain. Any suggestions on how to remove it or making it look better? It is kind of funny a high performance luxury car with rusty brakes

ok... do the following...

get a stiff metal brush and clean off that rust... then get a G2 Brake Rotor paint kit and paint that sucker... if you want to keep a classy subtle look, paint it silver...

the paint will cover the rust, and prevent any additional rust from forming.

good luck..

CLK 320
I can take them off you if you want, I'll give you nice black stock 320 ones haha

I had some rust on the axle by the wheels. I've been told you could put acid and it will remove it but thought the idea sounded easier than done. I decided to paint them and they look much better. Do as Danny says, paint it silver... he is wise.

G2 caliper paint comes with everything you need, from clean to finish. It is not necessary to remove the calipers in order to paint them. We stock most colors. What color did you want to paint them?

I posted some replies to a thread about this over at bnzsport. You can check it out here

As Ben said, EvoSport carries the g2 paint kit which is what I used (great results) and their price on it is good. :0)

Thanks for the reply guys,

Do you have the silver kit in stock? Also I need a price because I couldn't locate it on the Evosport website. Do I just call the 888-520-9971 to place the order? Thanks again.

$10

These are all you need ($10):
(1) Wire brush
(2) Rust dissolver
(3) Soft paint brush
(4) High temp paint

Very easy, you don't even have to unmount the rims, just:
- Wire brush the calipers
- Then apply the rust dissolver and let it sit
- Wash the calipers, wire brush, then wash again
- Paint the calipers thinly with soft paint brush
- Let dry

I did it 5 months ago, now the calipers still look good. Check this out: (the brown stain is break dust, not rust)
