Question on Replica Kits

I was told when getting a body kit that there is a "preferred" material for it to be made out of that is supposed to be the best.

My question is what is that material (e.g. Fiberglass, plastic, metal, etc.)?

Ideally, you want a kit that's made of plastic or urethane as they will be the most durable. This isn't cheap to produce, however so most replica kits (and even some high dollar ones *cough* Lorinser *cough*) are made from Fiberglass.

Don't regret it Danny - the biggest problem with fiberglass is fitment and Lorinser does a pretty good job of making their kits accurate enought to where they don't require a ton of work. I think brabus makes plastic kits but they only have add on lips and such.

Thanks guys. I want to get the same Kit as you Josh but the shop I found only makes it in fiberglass. I hope since they actually make the kit and do the install, I won't have to worry about fitment.

Do you know if there are any shops that have plastic or urethane replicas?

actually PuR is cheaper to make then fiberglass if you already have the molding for it. it is much more expensive to make a PuR mold than it is a fiberglass mold though.

PuR cant be reshaped after it is mold like fiberglass can. and original lorinser kits are made outa fiberglass. some brabus ones are too.

Since this site got hosed, I was in the middle of working out a deal with Felix. Does anyone know if he is back on line or his email address. I pulled a Homer and didnt forward my PMs to my normal email. I lost everything.

Thanks,
