So, after all these years, how's your CLK holding up?
Here are my stats:
2001 CLK 320 convertible, with now just under 207,000 miles on it (original engine and most everything else).
Just replaced the head unit and installed a Kenwood KDC-X997. If you haven't replaced the head unit in your MBZ, do it this weekend! For just over $400 I am listening to better sounds than any that ever came out of the stock Becker unit, (not to mention the added features), and I don't have to screw around with those stupid Bluetooth FM transmitters that are such crap.
2002 430 Coupe. 93K, Passenger seat forward/aft motor seized. Perfect besides that. Aftermarket DVD / NAV Double-DIN, works great, integrated into the steering wheel controls.... Oh ya, steering wheel needs re-finishing. No mechanical problems whatsoever, since I've owned it.
both rear bearings and had both axles rebuild at the same time.
convertible roof fabric (thieves cut it open grab an empty camera case)
case = ~$50 new top = ~$10,000
front bumper twice (my car is sitting kind of low)
Sony bluetooth USB head unit ( so much better then stock)
Just changed both belts as precaution
MAF
left ball joint
Cleared blocked breather pipes
K&N filter
ignition coil pack
2000 CLK320
105,000 miles
Still looks and drives like a new car. (Except for that stupid fuel gauge issue and a check engine light that comes and goes[o2 related])
- Wheel bearings out of spec - One replaced other tightened
- Stop lamp switch
- Door check strap
- Tie rod end play - minor but replaced
- Bunch of light bulbs - low beam HID's, city lights, gauge cluster blub
2001 clk55, 142,000 miles.
It was a MB buy back at some point.
MAF and battery this year. Lower ball joints are sloppy, have new ones waiting on me to install. Dash pixel problems. Couple of the climate control buttons are pushed through. Passenger seat for/aft motor is bad. Valve cover gaskets need replacing. Runs good no codes other than tele aid.
So, after all these years, how's your CLK holding up?
Here are my stats:
2000 CLK 320 convertible, with now just under 161,000 miles on it (original engine and most everything else).
i bought it when it had 140k miles and no proof of maintenance so here is what i've gone through thus far.
new seats (torn seat and arm corners in the front) Gucci custom interior i picked up used @ a steal of $550 for front and back seats, arm rest, and door panels. gucci costs more than $1600 in materials. only downfall is it is for a coupe so I have two clean gucci rears sitting in my room waiting until i can afford a new 2002 coupe or dare to sell mine that ive done all this work too... lets get into it..
cylinder misfire 5 is the only problem besides the roof (was)not working.
--steam cleaned (engine through air intake) 3 times , + used chevron, mystery, Zmax etc.. BG44k is next in fuel tank.
--- during ^^^ i broke my MAF got lucky and found one at boneyard for $70 used
--brake pads all around and new fluid in brake fluid container (lazy way) will flush this summer
-- locking latch for hydraulic roof o rings fixed now roof works again. YES!
-- new front bumper AMG (Euro) with custom license plate(illegal in U.S.?)
-- serpentine belt + idler pully broke on me (no FUN)
-- oil changed religiously ( I use Z-max in oil made a big difference )
-- transmission serviced 3 times (not sure if its neglected or not!+Z-max)
-- checked 13 pin connector via transmission it seemed dry from outside?
-- power steering fluid flushed ( dare i admit to using valvoline ATF )
PLAN : fix misfire CyL.#5, new valve cover gaskets, new blowoff valve gaskets, voltag regulator, OEM fuel filter, brake flush DOT4+, I have new transmission filter im going to do full flush in summer (drained 2 liters again today and replaced + Z-max), working on replacing broken side skirt was damaged when purchased I have to repaint and install, need new radio since i slacked on cabin filter or else the cold from the weather strip on driver A pilar ruined stereo.
JUST TURNED 160,000 miles!!!!!
only left stranded when idler pully broke off and poly-V belt snapped, thought it was voltage regulator at the time.
+1 when i drove over 100 miles using fix a flat *bad idea*. popped tire on the last exit before home
..since then I have replaced all four tires.
any ideas whats next ?

Valve cover gaskets need to be replaced
Drivers side wheel bearing was replaced the day before I bought the car. Other then that, no issues that I know of.
Just fitted new Goodyears and a whole new chassis suspension (minus springs), powertrain suspension (engine, transmission, differential) and exhaust suspension.
Either third or fourth owner of the car, I don't remember. Car was then handed to my sister as a gift for two years, and then it was handed back to me earlier this year. When I first bought the car it was at around 160k-180k miles on its odometer.
Ever since I got the car back from my sister, I have performed ton of maintenance on it:
Replaced oil neck assembly
Replaced crankshaft position sensor
Brake fluid flush
Power steering flush
Coolant flush
Replaced EGR valve
Replaced all the vacuum lines
Replaced all the crankshaft hoses
Flushed differential oil
Flushed motor oil
Replaced instrument panel lightbulbs
Replaced dome lights
Cleaned brake sensors
Replaced fuel filter
Replaced fuel filter rubber rings
Headlight restoration
Items that are still to be done:
Replace cracked AKG radiator with Behr radiator
Replace air cabin filter
Replace air filter
Replace broken windshield washer cap
Replace tranny mount
Replace defective AC climate light bulbs
Replace hood support shocks
Replace front and rear shocks
Replace damaged driver side mirror glass
