Blower Issue

My blower seems to be acting strange...doesn't seem to blow as hard as it used to. I've recently replaced the cabin filter so I'm thinking that't not it. Could the motor be pooched? It still blows hot air and gets the car nice and toasty but just doesn't seem to blow very hard...especially from the center and window vents...

Anyone have a similar situation? Any thoughts?

It could be the blower regulator. It takes about 15 minutes to change. This link explains how to change it.

Thanks Marcus. Would that throw a code or error message to the climate control unit.

The most prominent symptoms of this part going bad are the fan will have a "Mind of it's own" and vary speeds without any climate control adjustments. I also had one that wouldn't shut the blower fan down with the car turned off.

Do either of these fit your symptoms??

Yeah not too bad but it does it enough to get my attention and annoy me. Would this also explain why the airflow is not even in from vent to vent? For example my left vents blows harder then the center vent...and the right vent barely blows at all.

The blower regulator does not throw a CEL type code (check engine codes are emission related codes) however, the STAR diagnostic software might.

Failure of the blower regulator seems to be somewhat common on our W208s and as Taylori64 pointed out, the symptoms are that the air flow will have a "Mind of it's own" with randomly varying fan speeds.

If that isn't the problem, have you checked that all your vents are fully open (e.g.each vent has a physical flap, set by a thumb wheel, that adjusts vent airflow)?

If none of the above, it may have something to do with the filter installation (e.g. right filter etc.).

Hmm would that explain the whine coming from behind the driver's side vent? Only whines with heat on and the setting aimed at passengers. No whine with either defrost or when heat is directed up to windshield, down to feet or both up and down.
