Oil Light Displayed Oil Above Max!!! Help!
I'm a new owner of a 1999 CLK 430. I'm kind of nervous when the oil light displayed "Oil above max". It happened this morning when I drove to work. I didn't have the time to warm the car up. Just took off. Is this mean I have to drain some oil out? confused here!! However the computer said "SERVICE REQUIRE".
Thanks guy

Oil level
check the oil level with the dipstick to verify if its overfilled. There is a warning for both excess oil level and too low of a level.
If its overfilled, it must be drained off to the proper level.
If you're getting 'service required' messages, either the car is due for one, or the oil sensor isn't working properly.
An MB dealer can read diagnostic codes if you are getting intermittent service required messages that disappear.

Oil Warning
Make sure oil level is appropriate via dipstick. If problem persists, take into dealer for software adjustment or replacement oil pan sensor. Had similar problem in that oil warning would indicate high, then low, then very low, stop engine, etc. The first time the dealer changed the sensitivity via software which made sensor go off more frequently. Finally they replaced entire sensor and have had no further problems!
