2000 model yr CLK430 ride
Hi everyone,
I just recently bought a 2000 CLK430. Can anyone tell me how the ride is on the highway? I've owned a 2000 S430 previously with the air suspension and noticed a big difference riding over local roads in the CLK430 with the standard performance tires. Also, is it possible to add the factory COMMAND system from the 2000 model yr (dealer installation). Thanks.

Forgot one more thing. Does anyone know if you can use a universal adapter for the handsfree cellphone for the 2000 CLK430 as I've heard is possible on older S-class. I'm getting the car soon and it's being delivered with I believe a Motorola Timeport since the original was not with the car. I own a Nokia 8265 which I would like to use if possible. Thanks again.

You can get a COMAND retrofitted but no dealer will do it (they'll tell you it's impossible). Contact Steve (MBenzNL) at s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com and he'll be able to get you all the info you need as well as possibly arrange installation (depending on where you're located).
As far as ride quality, the CLK is based on the C-class platform so your ride will be nowhere near as plush as an S class.
As for the phone, the only way you can have full integration is to have the MBenz kit. these inclue the Mercedes Startac, Timeport, or you can opt for the newer kit which lets you use a generic Nokia 6310.

Going a littler farther, is the CLK430 part of the C Series, or what series? If it doesn't belong in any other series, what is it related to?

However, design cues are taken from the W210 E-Class...
oh, and not to be ****, but on a technical side note, Mercedes refers to their model lines as "Class", not "Series"

The Nokia 8625 won't work in the MBZ Nokia kit that you can put in your CLK. Only the 6310i, 6310, 6210, 6110, 5190, and 5110 will work. Good thing is they don't have to be Mercedes phones.
You can upgrade to the V60i Mercedes phone fairly easily as well and for about the same cost as the Nokia kit. So you do have a couple of choices.
