CLK 430 Engine oil leak
I have developed an oil leak on the front of my 430 engine.
It is coming from the oil filter, power steering side of the engine.
The rocker covers are dry.
The belts are wet.
The underside of the power steering unit is wet but the inside of the pulley is dry.
The underside of the oil cooler next to the filter is wet but there are no signs of oil leaks.
There are no signs of leaks from any of the hoses.
There is oil behind the power steering pump below the oil filler point.
The power steering oil level is low.
The engine oil level has dropped slightly.
Are there any common oil leak problems with this engine?
Is there anything I should look out for while removing bits?
Thank you in advance

If the large O ring on the filter was improperly installed (e.g. up against the cap's lip), the filter will leak.
The large O ring should be fitted in a grove, that is slightly below the lip.
Thank you for your advise on those items to look at.
The oil filter was changed in the last 6 months so could have a slow leak.
The oil cooler while wet underneath does not look to have fresh oil but more secondary oil spray.
I will check the oil filter first then the cooler and let you know the results
Thank you
i had the same problem with oil from the front of the engine on my w208 55amg
replaced all seals and o rings only the oil filter housing seal sorted out the problem
