Floor Mats..

Floor Mats..

My ash interior is a little on the light side for me.. I was wondering what others are doing with this light interior and if anyone can recommend some nice floor mats that would match the color and are made of good quality?

Clear vinyl mats

(I've to oyster color interior - so I'm familiar with the winter soiling issue)

When I took delivery of my car, the dealer had these clear vinyl mats installed (I took delivery in February = rainy weather) that have little cleats on the back side to keep the from slipping.

This stuff looks a lot like the vinyl carpet runner/protectors I've seen sold in carpet stores - it comes on long rolls.

What you could do is measure out the total length you need for all 4 floor mats and buy that length -

Then cut the vinyl to the exact shapes you need - what I like about the clear is you still see the interior color the car is and not have to mess around with finding a color match.

I use these on top of my regular carpet mats - when the rainy season is over, I clean the vinyl ones up and put them in the trunk until the next time I need them. Or, if I go to the beach or something like that, I put the vinyl ones on so I don't have sand tracked all over the carpet.

Fussy, I know, but it makes keeping the interior clean much easier.

I use MB black rubber mats from my previous 2001 SL500 in my CLK.

These mats have a honeycomb relief pattern w/ MB logo and best of all, -- the SL500 mat set costs only $45.-!!

I use bath towels. They come in most imaginable colors and there are sizes that can be found to fit quite nicely. Best part is that when they get dirty, just throw them in the washing machine and they are like new again.

Currently I am using a set of charcoal towels that match the interior perfectly, if they had the MB logo on them you would never know they were towels.

I have a java interior. The light front mats showed all the dirt. Like Karl, I now use the black all-season mats. Since I seldom have passengers in the back of my E430, I've left the original java mats in the back.

I like the idea of the clear mats.. But wanted something custom cut for the CLK.. Gonna look into the black SL mats as well..
