Performance chips

Anyone who has installed a new chip for their clk, i was curious what brands you went with, and what you ended up paying. Dose anyone know about Kleemann chips? Where is a good place to buy? etc.

I've heard from many guys that Powerchip makes a real good chip... evosport, amongst others, are authorized resellers for these chips...

Absolutely. E55 dropped a tenth to 60 and got more consistent. Haven't run the 1/4 yet with the chip. Full throttle 2-1 downshifts are a REAL BLAST now! CLK430 is quicker in the midrange. Makes it more fun.

Have you dyno'd your car for A/F reading since the PC install?? My E430 was running lean (16-17)...contacted PC to flash an updated software & the dealer will be replacing my MAF tomm...hope to swing by the dyno shop this weekend.

No but I do have a minor problem with the programing under specific conditions. I have the 93 octane program even though 91 is the highest generally available here in California. On very hot days (95+ degrees) and under heavy load, the engine pings itself to death above 53-5400RPM on 91 octane. I have access to a private gas tank that gets filled only 1-2x during the winter and I notice this problem even more with the oxygenated crap. A half tank of 76 high octane or a gallon of Toluene solves that problem.

Aside from this, the car is better than ever. I didn't see a drop in highway mileage (as expected) and saw only about .2-.4 MPG drop in overall driving. The spark plugs are always clean and show no signs of lean problems. Good luck with getting yours worked out.

LOL

In our extended family that has access to the tank, we have 11 cars/trucks, 1 utility vehicle, 1 tracor, 4 PWC and a boat. It is mostly for the watercraft. BTW, since it is only a 500 gal. tank, gas costs about the same to have it delivered as it does at the lowest pump. However, gas on the water can cost 50-100% more per gallon than that. It saves us about $50 per weekend in the summer not to mention the time.

Chip gave me 11 hp. Few mods were made to the timing. Biggest gain for 430 owners in quick and easy horsepower is to go get the CLK 55 airbox assembly. Stuff it with some K&N's and you'll see 25 hp. No joke. Chip=11 AMG airbox=25 total =36hp not a bad bargain.

What is the average price that you are paying for performance chips?

When I installed the K&N filters on my car, I checked the CLK 55 housing and didn't see any real difference, so I just put the filters on.
11 HP with the chip is at the wheels, you should get 20-25 HP at the crankshaft.

Air box should work with 320 motor. There is a differtence with the 430 box and 55 box, pay close attention to the bottom portion of the 55 air box. Notice the air foils in the bottom?? Also notice the plenium volume?? The bottom of the 55 airbox will only work with the upper 55 airbox, you can't interchange the 430 and 55. 900 US dollars is a good price for chips Anything over 1,500 is rediculas imop.

Yes clkal the 55 will fit right in place. Make sure to get the 2 cold air inlet tubes from the 55 also. If you use the beuty cover from the 55 you will need to slighty trim the edge that touches the oil filter housing. I used a dremel tool, it came out perfect for me. Hope this helps.

Two more cylinders. The 55 airbox will fit on any V8 M113 engine, (with an additional intake tube) but not the M112 3.2. Keep in mind the mounting points for the airbox on the V8 are much different than the V6.

True a V6 is minus 2 cylinders from a V8, hehe, but the airfilter bosses on the rocker arm covers appear to be in the same location as the V8's. I myself have never installed a 55 airbox on a 320 so I can not be certain of the fit, but a modular motor is a modular motor. I'll check tomorrow and repost if it will work on a 320 or not.

Does anyone know how much a 55 airbox would cost at the dealer? Or any other cheap place to get one?
