more tire/wheel combo questions

I know they must get a little annoying but i got another. I was thinking about maybe putting some dubs on the CLK instead of 19"s. Now I'd like to keep stock suspension and not have to worry about rubbing and/or camber changes cuz I want to be able to use my tires for more than 9 months.

I was thinking

20x8.5 with 145/40/20 tires on it.

Anyone have good knowledge about wheels to tell me what I'd like to know?!

TIA

Dubs on a CLK is possible... Felix has dubs on his CLK..

if you don't lower it, u'd look like a 4x4... plus, with 20s, you will have camber issue, just positive instead of negative...

btw, i think you meant to say 245/40/20.... 145 tires would be for like motorcycles...

245 would definitely not be recommended... i'd stay with 235 at most, if you really decide to do it... i think 235/35 or 235/30 is about all u can do...

stick with the 19"s. You can go with 19X10 in ther rear w/o rubbing issues.

i'll probably stick with the 19"s then. I'll save myself some money that way.

I have 20's. You can put 20X10 in the rear if you like. the rear isnt were it rubbs anyway. Its the control arms in the front is what rubbs. I have 4 - 20X9's with 245/30/20 and the inside of my two front rims rub the control arm on corners that you get the body rolling to much. I think if you got 20X8.5 on the front and 20X9 on the back that it will work perfect. and it doesnt look lowerd or anything. I really need to get some pics up here for you guys. Get the dubbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unless you live near me then get the 19's. j/k

19's are usually more expensive than 20's anyhow because they are such a more rare tire and wheel from everything i have heard and read. I would buy a spare 19 tire and put it up so that if i had a blow out i wouldnt have to wait for an order to fix it. I would just have to have it mounted. I do that for my 20 now. Keeps you from having to buy a 5th rim also. Just get the extra tire.

deuce: you really need to get some pics up here! do you have any camber issues or are you at 0 degrees. Thats my main concern because having any camber wears the tires so much faster.

Danny: you mentioned the 4x4 and I've see an A4 with dubs on it and it looked lowered to me because of the lack of wheel well gap. The thing that turns me on is I still have PLENTY of ground clearance and i'm sick of having a car that i have to take so carefully out of every parking lot at my college as well as most other parking lots as well. I know you got some pics danny so lets see some CLKs with dubs

its been a while since i've posted. anyway, i do have an old old picture of my car on dubs from over a year ago in mbnz.org. anyone interested in new ones? it doesnt really look like a 4x4... but yeah, i want to drop my car im looking in to getting 19's... dpe wheels like bruce's with black pwder coating and polished lips. putting 20's on a clk is unique, but u have to mod some things. its a b*tch if u do it yourself.
