55 airbox
Does this really had hp, or is it just a fantasy that people have? Mainly I'm asking, because it would seem too ricey to me, if someone just changes the airbox and it does nothing to improve the air flow.

55 airbox looks really nice, but it's the same design as the 430 box and does nothing to improve the air flow.
Edit: I ended up buying and dyno testing the box. It is not the same design at ll. It has a larger plenum and vanes to improve the flow. I got a dyno tested 10 rwhp from it.

i would say, 11hp gains would be 'optimistic wishes' at best....

Biggest gain for the money you'll see is a set of Evosport Pullies. And that's a dyno proven gain.

I'm not sure. That's my next mod, and I have all the necessary tools and have done pullies on other cars so I'll probably tackle it myself. I'll ask my buddy how much would be fair though.

Josh obviously you haven't had these airboxes apart, otherwise you wouldve seen the obvious differences between the two. So let me ask all the non believers this............ Why would AMG make the 55 airbox different from the 430? Why not use the 430 airbox on the 55? Simple question gets a simple answer............ The 55 engine requires more volume of air to fill the cylinders. Also AMG did a nice job of putting runners in the lower plenium of the airbox to help direct airflow,....... but hey Josh obviously you already knew about the difference of the two airboxes and thats why your voicing your opinion on the fact. As for me I did dyno my car before and after and I was really impressed with the results. Wanna line your 430 up against mine Josh?

Sure, I'd love to meet up in Carlsbad or Palmdale :0) I have a few performance mods as well. I think it would be fun.
