though the interior
is pretty damn cool - not sure if I like that steering wheel (it looks like it has "thumbs" for controls) - the seats and guage pod is pretty sweet - but yes - there are a LOT of C class cues
now wasn't the 209 based on the E instead of the C chassis?

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
Tnx Gareeb for pix!
Judging by pix, the new CLK lost its own unique assertive character. Now its another MB BLEND!
However, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh August/Sept. & taking it for a ride.

R129 SL55 AMG & W208 CLK55 AMG
I hope alot of you guys agree with me when I say that... I think MB should have added the V8 Kompressor on the new CLK55, just like they did on the SL55.
They probably did'nt so the price stays realistic... I guess!
What do you guys think! After all, a minimal gain in HP is there, but I think they did that to compensate for the weight gain on the W209!

Out Of Control!!
I think that Mercedes left the new 55k out of the CLK's because it could cause some people who would buy SL55's to buy the CLK instead. Doing this could then result in a lower profit margin for Mercedes. Remember, they are a business, their #1 priority is maximizing shareholder wealth.
Or maybe Mercedes just didn't want to try and compete with Kleemann
