2000 W208 Trunk Switch

Would any one know what is this switch for its broken at this point and has this hole with an air cylinder inside the trunk lid? My thoughts would be that it sends a signal to my softtop so it can open. At this point my soft top is not working and the red button is flashing. And my trunk does not open with the inside switch or key FOB.

The switch tells the ECU that the trunk is closed. You will probably find the LED is always illuminated on your centre console. There should be no air cables just elecrtical I think.

If the roof's controller thinks the trunk is open, you will not be able to operate the power roof. This is by design, to prevent the truck lid and soft top compartment cover from colliding.

Looks like it might have just popped out and up into the assembly. You might see if you can disassemble it and refit the plunger correctly. Otherwise I'm willing to bet that it's a standard part across many MB's of this vintage so check a junk yard.

Sorry for responding late. The LED light on the switch is off and it does blink when the trunk lid is open. Ill try to take this part out this weekend and post a picture on how it

I did somewhat checked it out and the plunger is broken. Would this part be easy to find?
