Key help! Dead battery, antitheft engaged
I have a 2002 clk430 coupe that has been in storage for about 2 years. I recently tried to pull it out to get it roadworthy again, and the battery was dead. Tried the mechanical key in the trunk lock, could not get it to turn (tried seafoam, wd-40, and hours of waiting, turning, waiting, jiggling, turning, etc). Hooked up jumpers to the charging post and the lights came alive, however, the key would not turn in the ignition and the anti-theft is engaged. The anti-theft light is blinking in the center dash. Pressing the unlock on the key fob does not disable it. Pressing the anti-theft button itself does not disable it. Moving the steering wheel slightly right or left does not disable it, or allow the key to turn in the ignition. I've combined pressing the brake, pushing buttons, and no results. I tried holding the unlock button on the fob while pressing the lock button 5 times (i had heard that would reset the key programming), and no luck. Any suggestions? I have read that there is a possibility the key needs to be reprogrammed to the car, which can be done at the stealership with a VIN #?
Thanks in advance!
