Luggage Compartment Parts?

About two years ago, I took my 2003 430CLK to have the convertible top repaired. The man did not know what he was doing, and when I picked the car up, he had not replaced some of the parts. When I went back to pick them up he told me his technician had thrown them away.

I need to replace the metal clip that the top latches to. The two pieces that the roller bar fit into are also broken. I can't find a schematic anywhere, and I am not even sure what to call the parts. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I don't have a beef. I would like to replace the parts, so that the top functions correctly.

I didn't think that asking for help with part numbers was a bad thing?

Jennette,

I think you're referring to parts for the luggage cover basket, which is located in the rear upper trunk area, that protects the folding power roof when it's down.

That is EXACTLY what I needed! Thank you so much. I have just started doing my own car repairs at age 52 - have always had a husband around to those "those things" - and so I don't know the correct terminology or even how to do basic things.

You are STELLAR!

The luggage cover, just provides some protection to the folded roof, from other items that may be stored in the truck.

The partition front panel must be up and in place in order for the power roof to operate.

There is a micro switch on the right side (item #75 in the drawing) that activates and tells the power roof controller that the cover is properly in place.

In the event you can't find a place to purchase the parts to repair the mechanism, you can just always keep the switch 'always' activated using an elastic band, piece of tape etc.. If you do this, just be careful when stowing other items in the trunk, that could damage or jam the folded roof.

Yes, I have been using a chip clip to hold the switch down. But I'd like to put it back together correctly, as I have finished replacing some of the hydraulics and would really like to use the car a lot this summer.

Thanks again!!
