Brake Pad Longevity

So, I just got a call from my SA, and he says my pads are about due for changing...

From memory, i think these were the measurements:
A Service: 12,000 miles = 8mm
B Service: 20,000 miles = 5mm
A Service: 28,500 miles = ~2mm (light isn't on yet, but, they anticipate within the next 5-600 miles).

So, at about 29,000 miles, I think I had a good run...

What are other people getting off their pads?

A lil off topic, but still brakes related. Your SA anticipates 500-600 miles till the light comes on right? I had my SA tell me that the front pads on the ML were worn down and wanted $700 to do them. I said hold off on them as the brakes were still fine and no braking issues (squeeling, down to floor, etc) and he told me about 1000 miles, the light will come on. I was at 50k then and i'm at 59k now. No lights, brakes are just as strong. I'm sometimes optimistic about their "estimates".

but back to topic, 29k is not bad at all. Of course, that all depends on your driving style and if you brake hard at last minute or use the brakes a lot. I've seen pads last around 40k or so...in that general area. Our S has 26k miles on it and from the last service (done about a month ago) they didn't mention anything about the pads being almost worn down...still nice and strong.
