Question Change the oil in a W208?

If I plan to change my own oil in a CLK-430 2001 do I need a topsider oil changer to suck the oil out through the dipstick hole?

Also, what is the best weight Mobil One to use on the east coast?

Thanks in advance!!!

the topsider is exactly what you need... and i think the recommended viscosity for our cars is 0W40

I just ordered some oil filter kits today but I can't find a place that sells the topsiders online. Anyone know of a good site that I can order one from?

TIA.

I got mine from a mail order place for boating equipment. I think the name was Overtons. There are alot of those places if you do a search.

I think I'll order the one from the second link. The first one seems way too cheap-y to last more than one or two oil changes. Thanks for the links.

All the info that you need is at http://www.mercedesshop.com/diy_oil_change2.htm
I got mt topsider at JC Whitney online. Works fine and is well built. You do have to re-pressurize half way through suction.

I want to build an AC powered one since I would only be using it in the garage. This way, you dont have to mess with pumping and losing pressure! I am going to grab one of those Airplane fuel pumps and see if it can handle the viscosity of oil.

Alright, just got the topsider in from JC Whitney and my oil and air filters in from mercedesshop.com. I think I'm going to change the oil this weekend.

Can someone please confirm what type of oil to use on a 320?

Thanks.

It's a vacuum pump that "sucks" out the oil instead of having to drain it from the bottom. It not only makes it a much easier job but also gets out more of the oil from the bottom of the engine than draining it from the bottom.

I just bought Mobil 15/50. I hope it works okay.

Also, nobody said anything about needing a special oil filter socket to remove the filter housing. I spent half an hour yesterday trying to twist that thing off by hand. Didn't even realize that the instructions I had said to use the socket and a wrench to remove it. I guess I'll have to order one. Anybody know where I can get one of these at?

TIA.

Get one at any local auto store. Make sure that you buy one that is the right diameter.

It's right on top of the engine on the bottom right side.

In this picture it's where the wrench is.

That topsider looks a lot better than the one I bought. I got the MVP Topsider and it took almost 2 hours to pump all of the oil out. The caps wouldn't seal properly (even coated in oil) so it would keep the vacuum pressure very long. I continuously had to pump the topsider in order for all the oil to get out.

Thanks, I bought a belt-type universal tool that took it right off. Costed about $4.
