Looking good so far! Will be checking your progress...getting ready to redo my door panels as soon as I find the inner door pull parts. I have some ideas of how I am going to do mine. Look forward to new ideas...

Thanks. I was afraid to take the plastic welds apart... I wasn't sure I could ever make the parts tight again. I'm sure you'll get a better look that way, though.

Did a very similar "surgery" on my 10 Camaro SS. The inner coves on the door panels were plastic welded to the rest of the panel. I used a dremel to carefully cut the plastic welds. When cutting the welds, I cut flush to the tab of the insert. This gave me a raised "post". Once I cut all of the plastic welds, I recovered the section I wanted with a red carbon fiber cloth and reassembled. To reassemble, I used a washer large enough to hold the area the weld would have held, and as short of a screw I could to get a couple of threads into the plastic. I have do to that to both doors with about 10 plastic weld spots on the Camaro. I am hoping there aren't quite as many on the CLK.

I went to JoAnn Fabrics and it was in their remnant stack. I have enough left over to do two more doors. If you want it, let me know where to send it and it's yours.
