Ever hear of a SCK 43?

I'm in the market for a 2001 CLK 430 black/black. Naturally I check out those I see on the road and the other day I caught one that had SCK 43 instead of CLK 430 by the trunk. It had the AMG Hammer type rims. Maybe these are the guys' initials or something but I figured I'd ask here in case there was someone that owned a Mod shop who used that as his advertising, his own AMG variation.

Anyway this is my first post so I have a lot of reading to do. I should be getting something any day now as I'm just trying to find the right car. I'm not having much luck with the local dealership but I'm thinking of taking a ride to one a bit farther away.

I guess my two main questions, if I may, are what are major differences between the 2000-2001 model years and is it worth getting a Star Mark Certified vehicle or should I just get something with a little factory warranty left? I've been told by the dealers that CLK 430's are expensive to do the certification...I wasn't sure if he was just blowing me some smoke.

Thanks for the help in advance...I'm looking forward to being a member and learning as much as possible about these cars.

SCK 43? No such car was made by MB.....seems to be pure badge engineering. 'Hammer wheels'......I assume you are referring to the AMG Monoblock II wheels (same as on the C36, C43 and CLK55).

As as the difference between 2000-2001, there really aren't any major differences.

My suggestion is to buy the CLK430 that is the newest with the lowest mileage you can afford.

Good luck with your decision. Welcome aboard.

Yeah those are the wheels, thanks. Sorry I didn't know. I figured it was a custom badge. Maybe if I run across him again I'll ask him about it.

That probably means SICK 43 and that he has a supercharger, getting rid of the 0 which is what they usually do.
