I used to have the same problem, but since I got the C32 AMG brakes, that nuisance stopped!

I am sick of it too. I was going to have my nice big brembos and be done with it, but my damn wheels don't fit over them. I am going to have to sell them. Maybe the AMG brakes will work with my wheels.

I hate it too. I just tried that Rain-X brake dust prevention spray. 5 days since my last carwash and the dust is hardly noticeable.

If my brembo's didn't fit with my wheels, will the AMG kit fit?

Zaino

Give 'em a real good cleaning and put some Zaino on them. Slick! The dust can't stick nearly as easily to zaino. The difference between a friend of mine that does this to his and my unzaino'd wheels was noticeable. Same cars and OEM pads.

Thumbs up

Waxing the wheels is great until the next time you wash the car, then the wax looses some of that super slick feel and the dust sticks a little more each time. Waxing the wheels with each or every other wash is a pain, unless you use Eagle One Wax As U Dry. I've been using this stuff after every car wash and it leaves my paint super slick and shinny, now I've been using it on the rims too and the brake dust is about 30%-50% less than before. The stuff is great becuase you spray it on the car when wet just before you dry each panel. I've even noticed that bird bombs have not left that acid ring on my black paint, the stuff leaves more and more protection the more you use it. This stuff is NOT a replacement for when your car needs a cleaner wax or clay bar, but use it after you've just waxed you ride the traditional way after every wash and you'll never loose that smooth as a baby's bottom feel to the paint and get extra shine and protection.

Here's a weird one - Endust

Want to hear a weird one? Try Endust.
Yes, that's right, the furniture cleaner.

I heard that from a friend who shows cars. It seems it's a little known secret. He also said using Endust on your leather helps keep it from cracking.

I tried it, and was pleasantly surprised. Go figure!

terry....if you do the quick upgrade to the brembo cross drilled rotors and semi-metallic brake pads, your rims will stay cleaner a lot longer. Before i did the upgrade, I had to wash my car (because of the horrendous brake dust) at least twice or three times a week. Now, I just wash my car , once a week, and there is barely any brake dust on my front and rear rims =)

Re: Re: I Hate Brake Dust

are you sure your braking the same cause everytime I had Brembos they always made more brake dust than stock. The bigger the pads and more grip you get will always leave more brake dust. Im thinking of getting some Brembo replacement crossdrilled rotors and possibly EBC green pads.

yeah, lou, i'm 100% sure that the axis semi-metallic pads are creating less brake dust than the OEM organic ones. I'm actually braking harder now than I was before. Maybe this is just the case for me, but my friend w/ a M3 w/ the same combo of rotors/pads has noticed a significant reduction of brake dust as well.

I use www.kleenwheels.com and they work great. The disc goes on the back of the wheel, and I have not had overheating problems.

Quick hint: Asbestos is used in most brake pad compositions. However there are new pads out, Raebestos <-- spelling. I think that is how they are spelled, either way, it is supposed to cut down brake dust DRAMATICALLY. Believe it or not, it is a FORD find. D'OH! There are always ceramics as well. Hope that helps a little....

Which Endust? The yellow can (furniture polish) or the blue can (electrical safe dust cleaner) ?

my experience

i like kleen wheels also. 3 cars of medium to heavy use, no probs.
problem there is finding fitment for aftermarket wheels.
i used ebc greens on my old w202 and rotors were shot after 6 months. i dont recommend them.

I am pretty sure it was the furniture polizh. I heard the same thing. Has a high concentrate wax formula in it. I never tried it, but now I am intrigued... :p

Endust

Do a search on the web for your local retailer. Actually, if you are in NJ, go to WALMART or something similar. They sell all that crap there.
