Difference between 230K engines.

Hello, it's my first time posting here. As a typical new forum guy, my first post is a curious question. (I surely hope to post much more since I've been reading a lot of Mercedes related topics in this huge Mercedes ownership forum).

This is an interesting yet a dumb question to ask for sure, because it concerns such minor engine differences but they seem to make my curiosity go crazy.

Now I want to know why and how can there be two different yet so similar engines out there? I'm talking about the CLK230 Kompressors.

One of them is a 190 bhp, 142 kW engine that does 0-100 km/h in 8.4 seconds.

The other one is a 194 bhp, 145 kW engine that does 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.

At the time i actually own a 200 Kompressor which has a 141 kW engine. So yeah, another minor difference for you.

My units might be kinda strange since i know a lot of users from this forum are USA based, so I apologize in advance. But I think you will get the point.

Now I know the answer might be quick and obvious. Maybe these engines for some reason were made different for specific countries of the world.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

The difference I would think is in the build, physically the same engine but the difference will be for the different models,

Sport
Classic
Elegance
Avantguard

The Avantguard for example will be heavier than the others because of the extras fitted.

The difference between the 200 and 230K is quite noticable, I owned a 230K and drove a 200K as a test and to me it felt as if the supercharger was broken !

Interesting point. You might be right.

Although it's hard to believe that there's such a big difference between the 200K and the 230k. Did you drive the 120 kW 200K?

Sorry it was years ago so dont know. You could find one for sale and then take it for a test drive, the 200K 0-60mph is 9.1 secs, the 230K is 8.1 secs, thats a huge difference when drive it !

If it's 9.1 seconds, it's the 120 kW one. Yeah, I believe this one does lack power. Mine is a 141 kW and does just fine. Although I might be looking into the 230K soon.

Clk 200 kompressor w208
Yeah

Yeah you have different ones.
U have 230 193hp fre facelift, 197hp facelift.
And yiu have 200 non supercharged with 129hp. And u have 200 kompressor 163hp (I own one) and u have a special edition in some countries italy Portugal and some other with a clk 200 kompressor with 180hp or 190hp don't remember.
From 0-100 it's pretty okay. But still my e36 318i 115hp does pretty much yhe same till 100 does it around 9sec. (i mean e36 is 1200kg and a clk 1350kg) but i love the power the clk does. Coming from a 115hp e36 who is now a project car almost fixed had a c180 w203 from 2000 rhd from England 129hp it was a patato 1450kg the car way to heavy.
Anyway i fell in love with the clk for its price to horse power. 2000euro the 200 kompressor. Or a 230 kompressor 2500-3000€ pretty cheap. If you see prices of bmw e36 and e46 less power and more expensive
.
