CLK430 Gap Between Top And Deck

Hi,
I have a problem with a gap between the bottom of the top and the rear deck. It's right in the middle and about two feet long. Everything is okay on either side of this gap. Pic show both where gap begins on the left.

My guess would be that the strike on the rear bow may be obstructed and preventing it from entering the bow lock mechanism (e.g. the lock may be in the locked vs. unlocked position).

If so, the lock can be opened manually, as described in your owner's manual.

If that was the problem, your hydraulic rear bow locking cylinder is likely leaking.

It only took two years for me to see if that is the problem, but it is not. The bow lock is working properly. But thanks for your suggestion!

First, thank you for you reply, although 2 years later.

However. your reply is valuable, as it continues to contribute to one of the few modern era that MB has produced. w/o any significant issues.

Although my initial guest was a malfunction within the mechanicals of your rear now lock mechanism, being jammed, was wrong,

I also know that any distortion of the roof's aluminum frame, during normal operation of the power roof, is also very unlikely.

So...here's another guess.

Your roof's outer fabric has separated, from where is raps around the rear bow and then is then secured into a channel.

You can easily check this out by stopping the roof operation, at any time, where the rear bow is exposed.

While your situation is extremely rare on a A208, stranger things have happened.

Upon your soonest convenience, please report further .
