Renntech Intake

I finally put my renntech intake in last night and took it for a spin (see kill stories for a race i had w/ 540i). I didn't feel any gain at first (I actually think the car was feeling sluggish). After about 25 miles I started feeling and increase in power and torque. This morning it felt even better. I was just wondering how long it takes for the computer to adjust to the new intake for full performance (does it even need to?) Anyways, does anyone know?
P.S. my car is not chipped.

you have any pictures?!!! If you also have an exhaust, I would recommend you getting the car chiped. You will gain more power.

If you disconnect the battery for about 10 mins, it will reset all the maps.

The car does sound a little deeper (cooler), you hear it more at higher rpm's but I don't have any sound clips. I'm starting to notice the difference alot more now. I don't have an exhaust YET (looking for an eisenmann), and in regards to pics my bro took some on his cell phone and I will e-mail them to you right now, you can post pics if you want because I have nowhere to host the images. I'll get some digital camera quality pics this weekend. I got the intake for 1250 used. I might have to sell it to pay for school though

Josh: Does disconnecting the battery also reset the errors that come up on the odometer?

disconnecting the battery will get rid of malfunctions, but if the problem isn't corrected they will come back (obviously).

hey josh, i just disconnected my battery and reconnected it and now my car is EXTREMELY sluggish. i t feels like its choking. Is this normal, does it take time for it to adjust or something? I'm gettin worried here. I only drove it once for like 5 minutes though. The one touch down windows don't work either.

drive it aggressively when you reconnect the battery for the transmission to adapt. As for the windows, hold them in the up position for two seconds to reset the memory and restore the one touch feature.

Thanks Josh, The windows thing worked but about the driving aggressive part, I can't, because when I push the gas hard the engine starts choking and doesn't go anywhere. Anyways, I hope it goes away with time. Thanks for the help though.

I hate to tell you but the sluggish problem sounds like a bad MAF you may want to get it checked out. What kind of air filters are in your intake?

But why would the problem arise after disconnecting the battery? The car revs up fine in neutral, its just when i'm driving it and pushing it hard that it just starts choking. Well anyways, how much does a MAF (same thing as a air mass meter right?) cost and does it really matter if I go aftermarket? I'll still have pics and a video of the car reving in neutral either tonight or tomorrow morning.

It's choking? Thats not good at all. How many miles do you have on your car? It could be you MAF as cilky said, it could be a fouled plug, it could be dirty fuel injectors, or several other things. As far as it coming up when you disconnected the battery, that might just be a coincidence.

There aren't really an aftermarket MAF's that I know of, but the part itself is around $200 and is very easy to change by yourself. Usually a bad MAF will set off a check engine light so you should try and see if you comp has registered any codes.

My car has 60k. I found a MAF online and it was 280. I will call MB stealership on monday and see how much I can get it for. I will also order stage I ignition system from evosport and hopefully this will solve the problem.

I got a MAF today from the stealership (list price $364, but I got it for less cuz I used to work at a Lexus dealer) during my lunch break and threw it on there after work. Car runs better than new. Thanks Cilky and Josh
P.S. I finally got my friends digital camera and pics and vids should be coming shortly.
