Check Engine Light!!!
So I'm driving home on empty (I always push it to the last drop because I am so lazy) and then my car starts hesitating on the freeway. I pull over immediately and put gas in. Car still acts funny, idles really rough, has some hesitation and worst of all is that the Check Engine light comes on.
I take it home and run my tester and find a PO170, PO173 and PO301. Two are fuel trim problems and the other has to do with a misfire in the engine.
So how does it all end, you say? I drive around the block and it runs fine. So I restart the car two more times (making it a total of 5) and the light turns off and everything is fine.
So the moral of my story (to myself at least) is that I should never let my gas run down so low.

I second that....................
I was driving from Santa Monica to San Diego, my gas empty light came on when I approached Ocean Side. So I reset my mileage meter to see how far it will take me with the reservoir. I figured I could re-fuel somewhere in Clairmont Mesa Blvd another 25 miles away. I was approx. 3 miles away from Clairmont Mesa Blvd and then my engine started to hesitated. POW!!! all systems shut down!! I was out of gas and only 2 1/2 miles away from the gas station.
To make a long story short..............I did had the same problem with the engine light came on. Drove the car for a day or two the car was back to normal.

I went right past a gas station when the fuel light came on, then there was no gas station for some 60km.
Out of fuel, in the middle of the night, on a highway in Denmark. I was lucky to have my friend right behind me in his E-class...
