CLK430 HVAC got me stumped
Hello,
Newbie here.
I have seen alot of threads on this and sorry I have to add another one. Searched thru-out and haven't seen some specific answers.
Bought a 2003 CLK430 with issues. Mainly the AC isn't working has dual climate control.
Bad LCD on original controller so replaced. Got coolant recirculation pump error and replaced. Cleared errors and no more errors since.
Pulled rest codes and temperature sensors all in range of actual. inside temp, outside temp, left and right temp.
Checked all fuses front and rear all good. Pulled OBII codes no errors.
Compressor clutch will not engage and auxiliary fans not turning on.
Tried simple, replaced the pressure and temperature sensors at the receiver/dryer. NG
Clutch wire only getting 8.6vdc. Traced wire to controller ( blue/green ) on right side connector. Applied 12vdc to wire and clutch engages.
system had very little juice so vacuumed down and held overnight. With wire jumped I started to charge, the low side and high side has equal pressure while charging. Bad compressor or clog.in system?
Needless to say, any ideas as why only 8.6 volts at compressor and why auxiliary fans not turning on? Do not want to buy fan controller if not issue. I think both are connected.
Thank You,
Rick

just to clarify...are you sure that you cleared the codes (on the ac controls not OBII)? The clutch will not engage if the codes are not completely cleared. After the last fault code is displayed, if both AUTO switches are pressed simultaneously for more than 5 seconds, it may clear the code. "May" because if whatever broken component is still broken, the code will indicate the problem is still there - because it is. After the codes are cleared the display will change to "d and FF". Have you done this?

Cindyclk,
Yes, The only error was for the recirculation pump #416. Replaced the pump then scrolled to the E FF, pressed both auto buttons and display went to d ff. No codes have returned in 2 weeks. Check daily.
Engine light was on. Had code for air pump. connector not seated all the way. Cleaned and re-seated and cleared the code. All good
sensor readings are:
1-89
2-91
3-92
4-93
5-92
6-154
7-0
8-98
9-0

24-14.3

Thank you very much

Got it fixed! all charged and all working good!
The Shrader Valve on the low side was installed too far. Quick disconnect on guages would not open the valve giving me readings of pressure at my guages not the system.
Was able to push quick disconnect about 1/16" down opening the valve. Wedged a screwdriver between quick disconnect and Air Filter housing and was able to charge
and worked like a champ. Aux fans working fine.
Next project to figure out why top will not work.
Regards,
Rick
