Crankshaft Position Sensor

Has anyone had a new Bosch CPS that was fad to begin with. My 2001 CLK320 runs fine for about 5 minutes then it stumbles, shakes, accelerates like it taking off in 4th gear. All the advice I got said the CPS and to buy a Bosch. which I did. And it didn't help. I do get codes that say misfire on cylinders 1,2 and 3. I have rotated the coils with the same result. I have changed the MAF, again with Bosch. It runs great when first started cold. The plug wires appear older, but I think they would cause a problem all the time if they were the problem. It has 109,000 miles. I'd appreciate any input. Thx.

It does not sound like CPS...usually can't restart until it cools down. Your symptoms are more like MAF or vacuum...Did you seat the air filter into the MAF housing and then lower it to the front clips? Have you checked to see if there is a crack in a vacuum line?

I did make sure the clamps were on correctly for the MAF and I have checked the vacuum line that runs from the back of the engine to the firewall. That was unhooked when I got the car. Are there vacuum lines that I am missing?

You misunderstood what I meant about air filter....push the rear of the filter into the MAF house ...first....then slowly lower towards front clips...if the rear of air filter is not securely in the MAF housing, it will create same issues as vacuum leak.

Because I'm slow, you're telling me to install the air filter from top to bottom and then be sue the cover is seated correctly? There are several clips missing on the cover. Those need replacing? Thx

the round back under side of the air filter unit must be securely seated into the MAF housing...first! Then you lower the front onto the 2 clips...that way you have the proper flow into the MAF
