Urgent! Roof close latch just spins and doesnt grip
Hi all
I have an urgent problem - I have today sold my 1999 CLK 320 Convertible on EBay. The purchaser is coming later today to collect the car and have just been getting it ready for collection.
I lowered the roof - which is in good condition and always worked perfectly, but when I raised the roof again the roof comes back up just great, but when I grab the locking handle and turn it to activate the 'claw grips' that lock the roof into the closed position it just spins without moving the claws.
I would really appreciate any help please
Many thanks
Mike

Check if the shaft's pivot bearing Torx set screw (item 1) in the handle hasn't become loose.
See instruction steps 1, 2 and 5 above to remove and/or install, as shaft orientation may have a detent or flat.
The set screw should be torqued to 3 Nm (26.5 inch-pounds).
