Input wanted on wheels for the CLK project

The time has come to start making some decisions about wheels for the CLK 6.3K project. Factors to consider: car is black, Lorniser DTM kit w/ flared F1 fenders, don't want to hide the F/R Brembos, tires will be 305s or 315s in the rear and 265s up front, wheels should be 19"s, wheels must be relatively lightweight for performance and multi-piece only.

I'm pretty sure I want to go with a multipiece rim with anodized(black) center and polished/brushed lip. I was thinking HRE. I know some of you really know what is out there, so if you have any input (especially pictures), it would be appreciated.

LOL. I have those on my CLK now. I love them, but, if we pull them apart to anodize the center, it will weaken the wheel. They are around 22 lbs. a piece.

Sleestack...I have only one suggestion for you.

OZ Spun Mg Supertourismos in a fitment just for your car:

and in its home environment:

whatever you do...please do not get wheels from one of those froo froo, "custom" places that charge way too much for way too little.

HRE is the way to go bar-none...

546R's in high polish will definately set off the DTM kit, trust me, HRE - accept no other!

I don't understand why yall like BBS's and RENNtech 10-spokes and so on. They just seem like way too much going on at any given time.

Sleestack, I think you should go for less = better approach. I think it'd work out seeing how you want the least weight possible also.

I'm not saying go HRE, but look at how they have the brakes just being shown off!

I love the LMs. They are a classic race wheel and really look beautiful on sports cars. Nevertheless, I want something different. HREs are definitely the front runners. Their designs are perfect and quality is top notch.

VRAA.... photoshop some wheels for me if you have some time. Black centers, polished lip. Pick your favorite HREs.

Sounds like low ryder needs to come over here and offer his 2 cents since he has changed the wheels on his clk more than I change my underwear.

I like the first one... and second one and of course the ones on your car. I guess it all depends on what sleestack is looking for his car. Exclusivity?weight?brand?

I really don't care about exclusivity. Weight is very important. I don't want 34 lb rims. I already tried that (with Brabus rims) and was not at all pleased. 24lbs would be acceptable. Brand is important only as it relates to quality.

I also like the 1st nand 2nd, altough i would prefer #2 in black rather than gunmetal. Ther'e a little too much lip on #3.

Thanks LR

Who makes those? I might get the ones by HRE that have a very similar design.

They are brand new. Think they just came out a couple of months ago. Click on my link below and go to the HRE wheel section. Peter at wheelexperts has a pic of it. It's basically a mesh style kind of like the BBS LM's and HRE 540R's. And it has a blacked out centers. That would definitely look wicked on your black on black CLK.
