What is oil quantity when light comes on?

What is oil quantity when light comes on?
CLK430 , 2002,
The step son said the oil is a bit above the low mark on the dipstick? I'm guessing its about 2 quarts low? That means about 6 quarts left, and should be pretty safe?

Per the manual the Oil Capacity is 8.5...Dont forget that .5 !

Yeah when the light comes on you have roughly 2 quarts missing. Don't push it, add oil, but it will be ok at that point.
