Is there a way to enable the lowering the convertible top while the drive is driving (I wouldn't lower it if I was on the freeway or anything like that, I was referring more to a slow speed , less than 15 mph)?

The manual says that lowering of the top can only be done when the vehicle is parked as a safety precaution.

Thanks.

You'd have to find someone who's willing to help you override the safety precaution....doubtful someone would want to expose themself to that liability.

Only have to stop the car to initiate the top lowering process. Once it's started you can actually start moving again.

Not that i would do it often. The weak point in the mechanism is one of the 2 hydrolics that lifts up the rear deck lid (not the trunk).
I had one of them came loose on me before.

We currently have a Peugeot 206CC (if you don't know what it is -- it has a folding hard top like an SLK, but is about half the price). The top can be lowered/raised while travelling at up to 7mph. You can get kits that raise the speed to 30mph, but I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that, because in the case of a hardtop you're basically sticking a big wing/airscoop into the airflow and are bound to end up bending something. With a ragtop it's not so much of a problem (more like a parachute!) but you could end up tearing something.

I agree that making you stop first is a bit mean though.
