stereo phasing in and out help
I have a 2001 clk55. The stereo phases in and out between what can best be described as mono vs. stereo sound. About 90% of the time it is in a degraded state but will occasionally revert to much higher quality sound for a few seconds.
I have an appointment with the dealer to look at this on Monday. Has anyone else experienced this? How was it fixed? I am afraid the technician will turn the radio on and listen to it for 3 minutes not hear anyting and say it's ok.

I had *exactly* the same problem.
Dealer replaced the radio and the reception improved slightly, but the CD quality totally dropped. Back I went. The 2nd replacement fixed the CD quality and the radio reception is, again, only slightly better. Other people have said replacing the back window helps. And others have replaced everthing and nothing has helped.
I hope you live near your dealer because you'll be going back and forth a lot on this problem. Good luck.

Stereo Phasing
I am experiencing the same problem as well. I also have a 2001 CLK55. I first noticed the problem sitting at a light when the sound quality would seem to drop.
I explained it to the dealer. They stated that it has to do with the Automatic Volume control. He supposedly updated this. I am not sure if the problem is better or not, as I have been using the CD more and more...
