Upper Conrtol arm horror

well yea im driving to my gym and all of the sudden i hear a snap and the traction control light blinks uncontrollably. I feel as if i had a blowout. PS I get out of the car and my passenger side rear wheel is on a 45 degree angle.

Called my mechanic he came by and showed me an upper control arm snapped right in fu***ng half!!!

So we changed the tire thinking we could at least get it to my house i was only about a mile away. Anyway the wheel was in such bad shape he said after a block or two it couldnt be done. So we parked it and the tow truck came. Hopefully I can get an upper control arm from a parts store for just the weekend until i can get an original mercedes one.

And to think this could have happened when i was goin 120 on the Grand Central. I would have been F**KIN DEAD!!!

I have pictures that i took on my camera phone of what this disaster looks like if someone can host them.

got it fixed

got it fixed the next day, dealer had the part in stock. My gas filler line was also damaged by the wheel rubbing against it but that was easily patched up. At least there was no damage to the axle and all that great stuff.

Anyway, the car is once again roadworthy.

i would like to know more about this. I have some marks on my control arms because my wheels rub every now and then agaist them. I was told by the shop a while ago that i need to take the wheels off Immediately! or they will snap them. I thought that was a bunch of bs but often thought about what might happen going down 65 and it snap in half....just kept telling my self it wont happen. I was planning on replacing them anyway when i got rid of the car to keep from having issues. So, i will second the question of above...How much was the bill? What kind of wheels do you have on there? I would like to see that pic u took. Chuuch80@hotmail.com plz.

heres the deal

first it started as nothing major. Just a clunking sound everytime i hit the gas. I thought ahh sh*t my differential is no good time for a new car. Weeks passed and it was still there and I was making a deal on a g35 coupe cause there was no way in hell I was replacing the differential out of pocket.

Anyway it snapped and my mechanic came and said ooo that was the noise. So he had it towed and the whole bill actually came to like 100 something dollars cause it really isnt all that hard to change an upper control arm in the rear. Also, the gas filler hose was ripped but we patched it up with some liquid weld stuff. Seems fine now. Ill send the picture out. I should have taken one from the side so you could see the angle better but i only took one from the front.

lol

lol thats my spare. we thought we could ride it home on the lighter spare than on the heavy AMG wheel. We decided it had to be towed after a block or two.

Anyway, I got those rusty nasty rotors replaced on all 4 corners with new pads so my brake feels much better now.

P.S. I put a deposit down for the 2005 G35 with the new 19" rims and center console and all. Looking to get a black on black 6 speed.

I thought it was some mean mother ghetto rim but now I realise the folly of my assumption. My car has a full wheel not a light version.

I was thinking about a full spare but I realized if im getting a flat 90% of the time its cause of the low profile tire so I figured might as well have a 55 sidewall spare if that makes any sense

Im not into all that "mean ghetto crap". As you see in that pic im very into the amg kit for the clk. I do however wanna get those lorinser or Expressions Side skirts.
