M111 timing chain & GRails replacement question.

Hello everyone. I decided to change my timing chain [set] (tensioner + guide rails + closed* chain), because i noticed some noises coming out of front of the engine (when i hit the gas pedal, and release then i hear a similar noise to a broken cam adjuster). I've measured the chain stretch degree, and it's like 30dg ATDC on intake, and 36dg ATDC on the exhaust camshaft (i can't lock the both camshafts onto their basic position in the same time). And i noticed some aluminium colour filings around the cam sprockets and in oil tho (probably the chain was hitting the alu. cover).
So i have some questions, it would be amazing if someone of you could help me with it .

1.Is it possible to take out the front engine cover (part number to a similar cover: R1110150901) without taking out the cylinder head?
2. Do i need to take the oil pan out to remove that front engine cover?
3. Are there some marks on the cam adjuster? (i saw some video on yt, and that guy said: "The cam adjuster should be in the fully retarded position" but he didn't show the marks to do it)

Car: W208 CLK 200
Engine: M111 E20 EVO (2.0 kompressor 163hp)
Year: 2001

Thank's!
