Now it won't fire up. Was starting occasionally CLK 430

Hi, I posted a week or two ago about possible trans issues...Well, I replaced the park interlock cable, tinkered around here and there...buttoned it all up and wow! it ran! I was so thrilled by my stroke of good luck I went on a drive. I instantly got drive-itis and ended up over five miles from home. It ran decent, shifted great. didn't get hot, or even miss a beat. Then....it quit. It quit next to about two hundred bee boxes on a nice hot day. Top down...bees...thousands of bees. I took foot bail after I tried to start it a few times to no avail. I had a nice walk through the country on home...after a couple of hours I got my wife and the pickup and a tow strap and drove out to where the Benz quit. I hurried up and hooked up to it...gave my wife the GO sign and got pulled around the corner, away from the bees. While I was being towed, in N..I decided to see if it would fire. It did. And quickly. I drove home, and upon entering the driveway, it quit again and would not start back up. The next morning I went out, and it fired right up again...I drove it down the street and back, and turned it off. It would not start for a whole day, then it did again. I moved it to a shady spot and it has not fired up since. It is getting plenty of fuel to the injector rail. I am thinking it is a spark issue. I went ahead and ordered a bosche KPS from Rockauto, along with a trans filter and gasket (maintenance is a splendid thing). From all I have been reading it sounds like the KPS. Is there a way to test the KPS? Could it be cleaned up and be good? The car is wonderful. It has a slight alignment issue, needs a front bumper cover, OH...and how do I get the code for my car's sound system? I would appreciate any help I can get on the non-running issue, or any issue for that matter. THANK YOU
BTW...I am calling it a KPS because I read that is what it is called so there is no mix up with the cam position sensor. I may be wrong calling the CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR a KPS...but that is what I meant by KPS.

UPDATE...i read, on this great forum how to test the CPS/KPS, crankshaft position sensor...with an ohm meter. So scratch that off my needy list.
