Steering Damper Replacement

Thanks to Josh's advice I ordered a new steering damper to fix the problem I've been having with my steering wheel. My problem now is I don't know what to do with it. Everyone kept saying it's a 10-minute DIY but I can't find any information or instructions on how to change it.

Does anyone know what a shop would charge to change this out? Or better yet, can someone give me some instructions on how to change it out?

Thanks in advance.

its under the front of your car it runs horizontal, you should be able to recognize it since its right there as soon as you look and you have one so you know what it should look like...

From there is it just a matter of unbolting the old one and bolting in the new one? Thanks for the help so far J.

yeah its a very easy swap, maybe 20 minutes but you have to be under the car and able to work under there. I wish i had pictures..

haters crazy
Why are you replacing the steering damper? Is it because you feel vibration in the steering wheel?

Not so much vibration but the wheel pulls if I hit minor imperfections in the road such as those lane markers or concrete expansion joints. It gets worse at higher speeds to where I sometimes have to grip down on the wheel with both hands just to keep the car straight.

Brian,

That is common also when you move to larger wheels... i think that is called tramlining or something... if thats the case, it is the directional tires that cause that... the grooves/design of the tires cause it to follow all the cracks & grooves in the road.

in any regards, hope this swap improves your driving experience.

You may be right but I noticed this even before I put on the 19's, although it does seem to have gotten increasingly worse. I'll let you guys know if it helps any.

BTW, good to see you on the boards again. The new wifey must got your computer on lockdown or something. :o

I got 235/35/19 ContiSport Contact II's and I had them balance when they were mounted and then I had the alignment done right after.
