In the meantime, you can take the rear foglight bulb out and use it in place of the brake light. While you're doing that, the bulb type is listed on the base.
(If I knew offhand I would just tell you, but I don't bother remembering these things since they are printed right on the bulb... but my guess would be a P21W, which is about $3 at Kragen, $1 more than a nearly identical 1156.)

Just pull the busted one out and look at the markings... then head out to Autozone or some place like that and look for the replacement. At the most it's a couple of bucks like Scorchie said...
I would imagine that the dealer will have them too, but they might charge you $18 for one... plus $100 to replace it...

After posting this, I remembered the W208 CLK is the weirdo in the Mercedes line. I was thinking of my C43... you can't use the foglight bulb because it actually has a dual-filament bulb for the brake light (not to mention the fog light is on the deck lid).
But in any case, a replacement is easy enough to get.

Thanks...I will do that, just tried to save a little bit of time, since it isnt the most pleasurable thing to remove, but do-able!!

Of course, this was a while back, using just matching bulbs from Autozone... I figured do it quick before I get pulled over...

Thanks all!!
It was a breeze. Took out the old one and replaced with via autozone and a sylvania 2057 replacement bulb. Works well.

I have a 00 clk430 coupe, the driver side takes the 2057 bulb. The passenger side takes a 7225! I had to triple check the bulb holder to make sure, it's very odd.
