Rear brake lines: How to???
I have a pretty bad leak coming from the hard lines that go to the rear brakes (on the rear passenger side, between the body and the frame). I can see it squirt out with the wheel off. It looks like a real PITA. Has anyone done this before?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!!
You you don't need flaring tools to replace the lines. Even if you did, I have a full set of snap-on flaring tools and I've done much bigger jobs in my driveway.
I'm trying to figure out if I need to replace the line by itself or if I have to replace both rear lines. If I have to replace both rear lines I'd be just as comfortable figuring out where the failed line connects to the distribution block and blocking it off. I can live with one rear brake line for now. I'm trying to stop the bleeding. That's the most important part. I have slotted and cross-drilled rotors with ceramic pads on all four corners. Losing one rear wheel would take away about 5% of my breaking and throw off some of the Dynamics, but this car is sideways just as much as it's straight, so I'm not too worried about it at this point. I need to stop the bleeding more than anything. It's affecting all four brakes. I'd much rather it only affect one for now
Thanks for the advice though.

When you open the Brakes section, you'll find a diagram of the 'brake lines'.
Unfortunately, it only shows the front left and right lines, from the hydraulic unit to adapter fittings, where I believe additional rear lines would be attached and continue to brackets, where hoses would then connect to the calipers.
