2002 CLK430 steering rack and suspension
Hi I have an opportunity to fix/upkeep/upgrade a few things in my car and I would like to start with the suspension. The car has over 77 k miles is in very good condition always maintained properly but when I turn the steering wheel all the way I hear a little clinking noise. What could it be?
STEERING RACK & PINION or Drag link or tie rod?
In order to refresh my suspension - not that I need it - but a mechanic owns me a favor, shall I replace the
Tie rod? bushings? shocks? and if so what brand would you recommend?
If you have some parts for sale that may fit my car I may be interested.
Thanks

Sounds like the steering gear bolts haven't been tightened. It's a five minute service that's supposed to be done every 4 years or 50,000 miles. Look up the spec and do not over torque them.

Every 4 years or 50,000 miles, the steering gear bolts (W208 CLK and W202 C-class) should be torqued.
The spec is 70 Nm / 51 foot pounds.
The bolts are accessed by removing the driver's side front wheel.
At that point, the three bolts are staring at you, as shown in the see enclosed photo.
