i'll probably customize a PVC pipe and the adapter. I've also purchased an aluminized CLIP ON shield so that the warm engine air don't get into the filter. its really cool cause its round and clips onto the filter itsef shielding it from the surroundings.

Thats cool

If ur wondering how to connect it to the air sensor body, I used a 3" wide piece of neoprene tubing. its really strong and holds it fine. The piping i have is aluminum, pvc would work I assume, but wouldnt look as good. If you can get a black pvc to match the rest of the intake tubing that would be phat.

Lemme know if i can help u with anything on it.

No problem if u DO want an aluminum chrome pipe

Go to ANY racing shop that sells honda cold intakes.

Look at one, and get it, the one i have is simply one that was cut with a hacksaw so it works

Just curious, how does this device get cold air into the engine? Wouldn't this just increase hot air going into the engine?

Running the intake to the side, rather than over the engine, allows you to bypass a lot of heat from the engine (as heat rises). This would be much more effective if a heat shield was used to prevent as much heat as possible from reaching it as well.

This is for a BMW application, but it's the same idea:

I just made a cold air intake for my 2001 ml 320 which has the same engine layout as you guys and the sound is awesome. I just got my clk 430 today and I'm gonna make a intake for it. I will probably start making these and selling them. The only intake I've seen for clk's (430) was priced at 1200!!!! yikes.....

If if can get one made out of Lexan(bullet proof) or aluminum how much would it be worth?

Let me know

Thanks
Jeremy

I don't believe that an intake will not void your warranty unless the problem can be traced back to the intake. In other words if your car has a tailight problem I doubt your intake had anything to do with it hahaha. The intake you see on the 320 above would only cost a hundred dollars or so on ebay. However if you made a heat shield to go with it then it would probably go for 250 or up.

I'll see how good of a heat shield/intake I can make and see if possibly evo-sport wants to sell them. I've already made a unit for the audi TT and bmw e-36 series. After I get this one made I may start selling them on my web-site.

Hey Shy,

Yeah you can go on ebay and find an intake for a 3" hfm(tubing) and get a piece of silicone tubing to fit it on to your 3.5 air flow meter. I'm not selling these or nor did I make the one pictured I am thinking about making them in the future however.

just go look for 3" cone filter on ebay and see what you find or I'll post a link to one myself.

I would get one.... what I was saying about 1200 was that I saw one for a clk 430 that was 1200 (it was carbon fiber and so on)..... but you could get one for your car for much much less.

I could make one for 250 and send it to you. If anyone is near Asheville and wants to have the test subject clk 320(I have the 430) and I've already got one for the ml-320. Then it could be done pretty easily.

check out this kit on ebay which would work on a clk 320

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1827626098

it doesn't have a heatshield though.

the K&N filter cost me 100 bucks including the cleaner. The shield cost 35 bucks. I'll need to customize the pipe and adapter, but thats peanuts!

the filter is 3" ID
dimensiaons are 3 5/8" by 6" by 9"
