ABS/ESP Lights

Hi my 2002 W208 has suddenly developed an issue where BAS/ESP lights come on along with same message on center display. No other symptoms, the car runs and drives perfectly, brakes feel fine. After stopping and turning off the car the warning is gone until restarting and driving at freeway speed again. Brake lights are working, I did check that. Any ideas?

Same Problem

I have the same situation, have cleaned front hub wheel sensors and toothed wheels, need to connect obd2 scanner when fault is active. Things I suspect are speed sensor in rear differential or the yaw/lateral accel sensor in boot. This has been happening for the last three months and have had new tyres fitted (manufacturer original size) to make sure this isn't the problem. Just need to remember to plug my scanner in before turning ignition off

You don't need to connect the obd2 before turning off the engine. The failure is registered and you can read it whenever you want.

My old 2000 CLK 430 use to do the same thing. I found that when it happened if I shut the car off and re-started, then turned the steering wheel fully to the left 5-10 times and the righ 5- 10 timest while in drive with my foot on the brake and repeat while in reverse it would re-set whatever was sending the fault. Shut it off....re-start and all the warning lights would be gone. Mine tended to only do it after I would drive in reverse for for say more than 500' and the pavement was wet.

I reset the fault with Xendry this weekend. I then drove it again and the issue returned, I will re-connect and retrieve the fault code to see what it is. Maybe I just need to do a few doughnuts!

Xendry has 2 codes P2404 and C1200 both refer to brake light switch. Brake lights do work, maybe there is a relay which operates off of the switch that isn't working.

This is a common problem discussed for years on this thread...it's a faulty brake light switch...$20 at dealership...don't cheapo this and buy on ebay...should be fine after that
