2002 CLK320 400k+ miles. So I recently replaced my headlight switch and I figured while I am at it I would replace my brake light switch. Before replacing the brake light switch the ABS, ESP/BAS lights would come on occasionally. After replacing the brake light switch now the ABS light doesn't come on but the ESP/BAS light comes on maybe 3 mins after I start driving. Dash only shows ESP malfunction. It should be noted that the ABS and ESP/BAS lights started coming on after I replaced my front brakes. What do I need to look for to get rid of this fault? Should I replace the brake light switch again? I bought it from the dealer they had to ship it to me because the closest one is over 200 miles away from me.

There is a speed sensor on each wheel hub which after so many years end up with metallic bits stuck to them. Requires removal of wheels and sensors, clean sensors and using a torch have a look to see if the serrated wheel, through the sensor hole, also might need cleaning.

Brake switch
If you purchased from a parts house take it back and go to the dealership . From my own experience. I bought a switch from AutoZone (local parts hse) . And fought with bas/esp for months. It almost drove me looney. Make sure it's a dealer switch.

agree with latelife above...you'll see how crappy the metal is when removing...if you ultimately replace sensor, don't lose the tiny clip that holds upper connection in place....work on lower connection first to clean and see if that works before replacing...might have to recalibrate ABS ( key position 2..turning alway left/right)
