Burl Walnut Trim

I bought a 2000 CLK 430, and I love the car, EXCEPT, the black trim. It makes it look like my car is so dusty. I'm thinking of installing the Burl Walnut Trim. Has anyone done this on their own? How does it look? How much you spent, and where did you guys get it?

I have a 99 CLK with the burl trim and personally I like it better than the black maple. I have a burl maple steering wheel too and I think the maple really dresses up the interior. Good luck on the change but I can only imagine it being very expensive.

Burl Walnut

David, by any chance did you also install a burl walnut shift knob, and if so, where did you order it from and is it a good match with the factory trim?

When I bought the car, the wheel and shift knob were already installed so I can't help you with where they came from, but they match perfectly! Take a look

David, do the floor mats came originally with your car, or is it optional accessory? The car that I bought doesn't have floor mats with the CLK and MB on it. It's just plain velour floor mats.

2001 CLK 320
Floor Mats

The logos on the floor mats might depend on the year. The 2001's had CLK and Mercedes-Benz.

The black birdseye "wood" trim in my CLK55 looks like scratched plastic. It is ugly and is only going to get worse with age.

If that is the case, get it replaced under warranty.

"Black birdseye" is MB's premier interior wood for the CLK55! Pls advise progress.

Remember birdseye wood is also available on all other models too in Europe, such as the 160bhp CLK200 Avantgarde.

I called a couple dealers, and they don't know if the floor mats for 2002 fit a 2000. Is anyone there sure if it does? Also, they don't have floor mats for 2002 in stock so they don't know if they have the CLK and MB on it.

I have the CLK floormats but they keep slipping and get crunched up. Where can I get something to keep them in place and what's best for that?

I wanted the birdsyes wood trim for my car but I heard it cost a lot to get them, so I assume the pirce for the burl is around the same.

I wonder if there are people out there who want to trade burl for the black maple and visa versa?? You might be able to work something out if you can find someone.

I've seen those adhesive laminates in "faux" burl that attach over the existing dash. Don't recommend them. They look and feel cheap.

How popular is "black birdseye maple" in Europe? Is there a premium charge? Does it cost more than walnut or chestnut?

The MB dealer has black carpet clips.

They are heavy-duty 1/2" wide alligator-type clip/snaps with sharp serrated edges and with a 2 1/2" long needle.

The needle goes into the base carpet, and the clip/snap hold the mat. Get at least two per mat.

My salesperson gave me 4 for free.

when i got my 320, they came with MB and designo mats. The designo mats had clips attached to them. You could clip them to the seat brackets, cool idea!!

but they shouldnt really slip either way!! hmmmm. have you been washing the flooring recently?
