How to remove instrument cluster?

Aye, a stupid bulb went out behind my fuel gauge. Does anybody know how to replace it? I'm guessing pulling out the instrument cluster?

i saw steve take mine out when he did the comand retrofit and he took off a cover down under the steering wheel area (above your legs in the drivers side foot area) and then he stuck his arm up through their and pushed it out. if you try to pry it out from the front you chance wrecking it.

Interesting. I looked under there and there was a hella lot of wires, but I'll try pushing it from that way to access the bulb. Thanks.

And iosmart - I'll give that forum a search, thanks!

its easy... there is a tool you can buy, or make with tough metal clothes hangers...

basically, there is a hook at the end of a rob about 6-10 inches long... you place this tool at the left & right bottom edges, once the hook locks in place, you just pull straight out.

Hmm, cool, I'll check the dealer...and if it's too expensive, then I'll return it! Or keep it just in case another bulb goes...thanks!

Recommend against using the tool on a CLK.. the dash material is very susceptible to rips. What BrklnBenz wrote is the best... remove lower dash panel, push IC out from behind.

the tool itself is pretty cheap... around $10-20 for the set.

But, scorchie is right... the material on the dash is very soft, and can tear if not careful using tools around it. So far, I've removed my cluster about twice and I haven't had any issues with the dash.

just be careful... thats all I can say
