I just got my CLK430 back from my exwife after being held hostage for 10 years. I drained the gas and put in a new Bosch pump and filter but it still won’t start. It won’t take gas, backs up at the filler neck, but I think I got enough in there to get to the pump. It wil run if I spray carb cleaner down through the MAF . What’s my next step to diagnose the issue. I checked all fuses but I still don’t think I’m getting power to the pump. Do I need to reset anything. Battery was dead for months but I drove it into the barn last fall

Hey there

Methinks you should go to harbor freight or amazon and get yourself a ....boroscope? Endoscope? Different names for different applications. A camera on a flexible cable with a monitor at the end basically.. feed the camera down your filler neck. I bet you will find your obstruction. Conversely you could drop the tank and take the neck out and find it that way.

Great idea. I own one already. I have the car running great now, but still won’t take gas. The initial problem was my fault. I was working in a dark barn when I changed the fuel pump and filter. I accidentally hooked the filter lines backwards ( canister/fuel) on one side. That caused the pump to fill my charcoal canister with fuel. I reversed the lines and rebuilt the charcoal with new charcoal. I put 5 gallons from a can in the car and it’s been running great. Took it to the gas station yesterday and tried to fill it. The entire gallon I slowly added dripped out under the car. Going to try the camera today

Neck is full of gas

I put the camera in there and the neck is full. Only put 5-10 gallons in after draining tank completely. I have no fuel gauge and it runs fine. Could the driver side be empty and the Venturi pump isn’t working? I saw a thread about putting it back together wrong could cause the pump not to work. I’ve had the canister system completely out and rebuilt it. Maybe I reversed a hose or have a kink in it

Saddle tank issues

Passenger side is full but won’t transfer to driver side. Full gauge also reads empty

I'm not quite sure as of yet, but I ran into a problem driving my CLK430 the other day. It suddenly started acting up, like it was out of fuel. I got it pulled/pushed/cussed into a fueling stop eventually... 105 degrees is not good weather to push that heavy old beastie.. especially not uphill. I have to give a shout-out to the Texas State Trooper, and the Travis County Constable who helped me out, and who also DIDN'T ticket me for God-only-knows how many infractions..but thats a different story... Turns out the filter was clogged, and either the transfer pump or a line in the tank was sucking air... So now my car runs out of gas at 1/4 tank instead of WAY past E. Probably serves me right...lol

Anyhow, I'm going to have to try to figure it out. The old tank probably needs a good cleaning too. I've just been too busy trying to get my '07 CLK 550 going again to tear into the CLK 430 fuel issue, being as though its my only working vehicle at the moment... (curses Infiniti under my breath... infernal FX35..)

Also, I do apologize for the very very late reply to your message. I'm not even going to start on how the last year has been... DiosMio....

Plz let me know if you figured anything further out so far.
