Brake Life?

I was wondering how long did your stock pads and rotors last you? is it normal for your pads and rotors to be changed at 40k? i was also wondering how much would be a fair for changing rotors and pads? thanks

pads life varies based on how hard you ride your brakes... my stop-n-go traffic yielded about 32,000 miles before the brake sensor kicked in.

Rotors can easily last 2-3 set of pads... however, if you take the car to the dealer, they will change your pads & rotors because they feel it is unsafe to use a rotor for more than 1 set of pads... and they don't believe in shaving the rotors either...

?

MMGRAD - Help me understand - the CLK430 has a sensor that informs the driver on the instrument panel when it is time to replace the brake pads? or are you talking about the common "squeelers" that can be heard?

Might be a dumb question but I am very new to this vehicle. Still trying to learn.

there is a brake sensor wire implanted in the brake pads... once that sensor makes contact with metal, ie, your rotors, that means, its about time to change your brakes...

well, it will have about maybe another 1-2,000 miles after that to change the pads...

but yes, there will be a message displayed in your instrument cluster...

That is a nice feature - I wonder why They did include tire air pressure monitoring.

tire pressure monitoring is a little more complex... but, it is available on their new higher models...just not on our cars

you can always go aftermarket...
