CLK 430
Talking New CLK

I finally got my first mercedes a 2000 clk 430 I am soooo happy. I have two questions now, but probably alot more on the way First off I was wondering if I could take my car to a mercedes dealership and get xenons in it, or if I would have to buy aftermarket xenon lights. Second I have seen alot of clks without the traditional mercedes popup emblem. Like the cl's. Where would I get that and how much would it cost? Thanks for any help

Congrats ! If you want Xenon headlights, I wouldn't recommend you to buy it from the dealer because it's way too expensive, you can often find good Xenon headlights for half of the dealer price.

If you're talking about replacing the MB star sticks out on the hood, you can purchase one online for roughly $30-$50. It makes the car look sportier.

A lotta CLK owners have gotten those for their cars, I don't know how much it cost but from what I remember it's something around $200 brand new.

I saw an ebay bid...would 375 be good for the "large star" grill and the hood badge?

not many engine mods yet. Just intake exhaust and chip coming soon. All the rest are suspension. I would think the 8 in the clk would be tough to beat.

I've killed an E36 M3 before, easily. Got about 4-5 car lengths ahead from a rolling start all the way up to about 120.

that is suprising I did not think it would be that lopsided. Was the M an automatic or a 5 speed? What model do you have? What type of mods?

I didn't think it would be that great of a margin of win either.

I didn't know the guy but it sounded like he had a manual. So maybe he couldn't shift well. It was an older guy.

I have a 2002 430 with just the AMG exhaust and K&Ns but I doubt if those give me that much more power.

a 95-99 M3 will kill clk430 any day if properly shifted, especially 97-99 version with 3.2 liter engine. i had a 95 M3 and have a 2001 clk430 and trust me the M3 was faster.

I think the E36 M3 will beat the 430 if it was manual and the driver knows how to shift. I've raced couple of those M3s and got raped many times. They're FAST.

the U.S. version of the E36 M3 is not as fast as the Euro version, but it is definitely faster than the CLK430 if running stock vs stock. the CLK is much heavier than the E36 M3. on freeway runs the CLK430 will be easier to accelerate because of the V8. at the light M3 will kick CLK430's *** if the driver knows how to drive the 5-spd.

Cool Congrats on the new CLK

Get some HID lamps for those circular fog lamps that come with the 430. It would look sweet.

On the topic of M3s, the only one I've raced is a chipped '97 automatic. I won all 4 races, but not by more than a car length.
