Eliminate hydraulic trunk lift to manual only?

2006 CLK 500 Cabriolet, Ford E-250
Eliminate hydraulic trunk lift to manual only?
I have a 2006 CLK500 converible& one of the studs on my hinge broke and now the hydraulic line is damaged and leaking.
New hinges are no longer sold and only used are available. I would like to completely eliminate or delete the hydraulic lift system on
my trunk and simply just lift it manually. Does anyone know if this has ever been done or can provide a link or some information.
My hydraulic lift has been more trouble that it's worth to me and I wish it were just gone.
