Climate control panel screen malfuntion

Hey everyone, 2000 CLK 430 cabrio. Climate control screen displays as normal when car is started, then after 5-30 seconds it begins blinking then it shuts off, deactivating blower motor and all HVAC EXCEPT rear defrost? That light will stay lit.

cleaned electrical connectors, checked fuses, anyone else ever experience this?

Yes. Carried out all the checks as you have done. Took it to an Auto Sparks. Blower Fan replaced. £££. Same problem. Back to trial and error checks.
In the end it turned out to be a fault on the Control Panel Switch on the dashboard. Heater Control switch shorting out when warm. Part no longer
available from Mercedes in the UK, as are most parts for the W208. Had to search the scrap yards for a replacement that worked. £30. Job done.
Panel and Switch Unit are just Push Fit.
