CLK-Class (W208) 1998-2002: CLK 200, CLK 230K, CLK 320, CLK 430 [Coupes & Cabriolets]

I should have bought a 430 instead of a 320 and convert...

Well, for those of you with CLK320s thinking of changing the lower body kit to AMG and look like a CLK430/55, you might as well think of buying a 430.

By the time you get the kit and the wheels to go with it, it will ended up costing more and still have a V6 engine in the car...

Just a thought...

RezaH,

Did you receive the kit you bought on ebay? (I know because I was looking at it too.) Any problems with installation?

Yes... more

Hi.. Actually I did purchase on the eBay from the same person, who has another kit on eBay right now.

Well, to make the story short, the kit was in very bad cosmetic shape, I had to refinish and paint , even though it was Brilliant Silver(Mine is Silver as well, thinking I wouldn't have to paint). Cost me $1200 on ebay, plus fog lights ($475) plus refinishing, painting and installation for $750. Still not bad, I guess for the AMG complete kit. It fit well without any problems.

It didn't come with some of the needed clips and trims which I had to get it from dealer as well.

Anyway, once the whole thing is done tomorrow, I will be very happy. I saw it today at the body shop, they are done with front and rear, just the sides left. It looks great.

I will post the pictures once done...

Anyone knows where I can get the 'Sport' Badge for the CLK320??? or should I just put "AMG" emblem on the rear trunk???

It has AMG Body kit and 18" AMG 2pc. SL Wheels on the CLK320. It looks very sharp...

Anythoughts?

Hey Cliff .... Your car looks sharp.

Hey Cliff,

Your car does look very sharp, and I love mine as well. Don't get me wrong. I love the way my car is customized now. It was just a thought.

RezaH,

Sorry to hear that the merchandise was not as you had wanted. I guess you always have to be careful with what you buy online. There was another set off a CLK 55 that was "brand new" and ultimately sold for $1400 on ebay.

Anyhow, you're going to start a whole debate again about which cars "deserve" the ///AMG badge! Personally, I think that if European models with the AMG equipment come from the factory badged with ///AMG, I don't see any reason why your car shouldn't be badged.

P.S. What does the "Sport" badge look like?

Talking

RezaH,

Do you mean the sport badge on the sides of the car? Like the ones on CLK 320 with sport package? I think they look great, should put that and ///AMG on the trunk, makes your car looks nicer.

Thank You all...

Thank you all so much for responding...

Sports Badge goes on the side fenders like it comes from the factory on CLK320 with a Sports package...

I am still not sure about the AMG Badge on the rear with a CLK320 on it... It doesn't seem right.

I don't want to be catogorized as a AMG want to be, but the car does have a lot AMG stuff on it. like the AMG Body kit and AMG Wheels...

Should I remove the 320, keep CLK on one side and AMG on the other??? Will it look strange that way???

Anythoughts?

Thanks

Lee.. Yes I did.

I did buy it from Tommy. He is nice and helpful.

I guess, I should have known better thinking it will be in a new condition when buying something like that used.

I think you should just take the CLK320 off completely and just leave the mercedes sign. I also have a 320 with the AMG kit, and i had the same dilemma you did. Evetually, i didn't go with an AMG badge b/c someone might think i'm "fronting" on a real AMG built car. If you take off the 320, it might look funny. Check my other post for a pic.

Thanks

Thanks, I agree...

I am going to think about what I am going to do with the rear badging... I will put the sports on the side.

I will post pictures soon

Wink

I always get a chuckle when I see a 320 or a 430 with the AMG badge. Guess I'm just a snobby elitist!!

I agree...

I am NOT going to put on a AMG Badge on the rear, I don't want people to think I am less happy with CLK.

However, I will do what Lee and MACH430 has done their CLK. It looks elegant and remove CLK320 completely.

I will post pictures on a new thread as well.

Here is one:
